Topgallant™ Adapters offer a new, practical way to link applications in shipyards or extended enterprises. Topgallant Adapters are standard components that plug into legacy systems, file systems, databases or other applications.

Adapters are either providers (publishers) or consumers (subscribers) of information in the Topgallant information infrastructure.

Publisher Adapters: These Adapters continuously track information sources and announce changes to Topgallant Information Server.

Subscriber Adapters: These Adapters register requests for information with Information Server and receive change notifications. Information content is retrieved from Publisher Adapters through Topgallant Communication Server.

Topgallant Adapters normalize accessed information, transformed from its native semantics into the Atlantec-es Enterprise Reference Model for Shipbuilding. The Enterprise Reference Model is a catalogue of specific requirements of the marine industry. It identifies and describes all relevant types of industry business objects, such as organization, facilities, processes, and product domains.

Information about such business objects is often distributed across several data sources. Topgallant Adapters extract and combine information from these different data sources consolidating the data as one object of the Enterprise Reference Model.
